Once we get this information we apply visa on your behalf. Visa clearance numbers are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and must be obtained before coming to Bhutan. It takes 7 days for processing. A visa clearance number is then faxed or emailed to you – this confirms your visa for your arrival to Bhutan. Answer:First we will assist you to finalize the itinerary to fit your travel specifications. You only need to decide on the approximate duration you wish to spend in Bhutan, and then we will confirm your Druk Air flights for entry and departure dates. When we finish discussing the itinerary, a deposit for Druk Air fare is required in order to confirm flight. Final tour payment is due 30 days prior to arrival in Bhutan. Answer:Best Season to visit Bhutan is all months except June, July and August due to the rains that may disrupt your flight schedule to get in or out of Bhutan. In spring, the trekking season commences in moderate altitudes. Above 2500 metres, spectacular rhododendrons forests bloom. In Paro, one of the largest monastic festivals “Paro Tsechu” takes place. The temperature is pleasantly mild. Rain comes in May as the harbinger of the approaching monsoon. Autumn is the traditional season in Bhutan. September, October and November have the highest number of Tsechus (religious festivals). Trekkers particularly enjoy the clear view of the mountains in October and November. 6.What kind of hotels we will stay? Answer:There are comfortable hotels, lodges and guesthouses at tourist destinations. Hotel Yangkhil; Wangdicholing lodge, Swiss guesthouse, Hotel Druk Zhongkhar etc., * Staying in at the new luxurious hotels of Amankora Resorts; Uma Hotel and Hotel Zhiwaling in Paro, requires additional fees per night at much higher rates. 7.What kind of service can I expected from tour director and local guides? Answer:Tour director coordinates and supervise all ground operation. Local guides working for Bhutan Travel & Tourism are government licensed, with minimum 5-year working experience, they will focus mainly on comprehensive presentation of history and culture of site-seeing, city and the country. 8.What kind of food are offered during the tour? Answer:Hotels and restaurants usually offer Bhutanese, Continental, Chinese and Indian Cuisine. Rice forms the main diet of a typical Bhutan person, accompanied by generous helping of hot chilies and cheese in almost every curry. All meals are included in the price of the tour. All breakfasts are western buffet style in the hotels. You can expect eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereals, juices, coffee, fresh fruit, etc. Lunches are served in fine, clean local restaurants and dinners vary according to itinerary. We do our best to accommodate guests with special dietary needs. Please bring this to our attention prior to your departure. Even on trek, our cooks prepare dishes suitable to western taste ranging from continental to Chinese, Bhutanese and Indian. 9.Can I drink the tap water in Bhutan? Answer:No. You can use the tap water to brush your teeth. We recommend that you drink only bottled water or boiled water. Bottled water is available at hotels and local stores. 10.What types of ground transportation will you use for our tour? Answer:For individual travelers we use Hyundai 2WD, 4WD Landcruisers; for groups of 3-7 persons we have Toyota Hiace mini buses; for larger groups of 8-20 persons we have Toyota Coaster Buses. The transport and guide accompanies the tourists right from arrival until departure. 11.What is the baggage allowance? Answer:Baggage allowance on Druk Air flights is 20 kg (44 lb) in economy class and 30 kg (66 lb) in business class. One standard carry-on is allowed per person. We recommend that you pack a duffel bag in your suitcase to use as an additional piece of luggage for your return flight home. If you do travel with more than one piece per person, a fee may be imposed for excessive weight. (For tourists, sometimes exceptions are made, but this is not assured) All baggage should be locked while traveling. 12.What money to use? Answer:Bhutan unit of currency is Ngultrum (Nu), which is at parity with Indian rupee. US$1=45 Nu. You are advised to carry your money in form of Traveller's Cheques (preferably American Express) or cash (US Dollar) which might be needed for incidental expenses. * Banks in Bhutan do not accept credit cards. Visa Card and American Express credit card and accepted in a few shops. No other credit card is accepted so far. 13.Do I need immunization? Answer:Currently, there are no vaccinations required for travel to Bhutan. However if entering via India, you are recommended to have such precaution. 14.Is travel insurance necessary? Answer:Yes! We recommend every client to contract a travel-insurance in your home country. Please check your medical and accident insurance policies with your insurance agent. It is a security for unpredictable circumstances that may arise. 15.How much is the airport departure tax in Bhutan? Answer:Airport departure tax is now included in the ticket price.
